Default Guide you should follow before listing your site in a directory

Hello,

I have seen many people listing in directories to get backlinks. Of course, that is the obvious reason why you list your site in directories. But there are many important things one must follow before adding your site to a directory. If you miss them, you may be sandboxed by Google.

1. See to that you are not posting your site in all directories available just to maximize your no. backlinks. From Google's point of view, quality less directories are like a spam center where all spamming website links are available so your site is also considered to be spamming and Google throws you out of their search engine. Though you can come out of sandbox by contacting them, prevention is always better than cure. Go for PR3 or more directories.

2. Don't try to post in as many directories as possible in a shorter span of time. One can list his/her website in maximum 50 directories a day (I feel even 50 is much. According to me, 20 is good. But people say 50 is ok) If your backlinks suddenly gets from 0 to a lot, then it is obvious, for Google to consider you as spam.

3. Try to post with multititle in different directories. It helps better than listing your site with a single title.

4. Just forget about automatic submission. As stated in #2, your no. of backlinks should not grow rapidly. It should be gradual. Rapid growth is not helpful anywhere. But automatic submission does it. It adds up your site to as many directories as possible in as short time as possible. So better, be away. Manual is always better though slow.

5. Its not a mistake to give it to a professional to do listing than you do it by yourself and having all headaches, if you are really confused. (I am not a directory lister and I am not promoting myself :P) Remember, Directory listing can change your site's future. Take care.

If There are any mistakes in my points, I appreciate to point it out and if you are willing to add more points, I would be happy
